About The Position

Pyramid Global Hospitality is seeking a highly motivated Banquet Captain to join their team at the La Quinta Resort and Club. This role involves directing the setup, preparation, service, and breakdown of banquet rooms for various functions. The Banquet Captain will assist the Banquet Manager in leading banquet food and beverage servers and housemen, acting as the property's representative to guests. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of room setup and food and beverage service to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues. The ideal candidate has experience leading high-volume catering and banquet events and possesses a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably Banquet service.
  • Experience in a 4-star, 5-star venue with synchronized service.
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the set up and preparation of banquet rooms for banquet functions.
  • Serve and bus tables, and clear and tear down banquet rooms at the end of the function.
  • Lead the performance of all hourly banquet food and beverage servers and houseman.
  • Act as the personal representative of the property to banquet guests.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the room set-up and food and beverage service to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.
  • Set up for functions, including draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, and placing table centerpieces.
  • Serve food and clear food from tables, including picking up food from the back hall and carrying trays.
  • Break down functions by bussing tables, putting away dirty linen and centerpieces, and vacuuming.
  • Clean the back hall and organize storerooms.
  • Set up AM or PM break stations with coffee, tea, snacks, beverages, etc.
  • Assist with event room setup according to meal period and table needs.
  • Perform food & beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments, brewing coffee, and ensuring workstations are stocked.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests.
  • Remove dishes, glasses, silverware, or other items from tables/countertops and take them to the kitchen.
  • Clean and sanitize tables and/or counters & seats after guests are finished.
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, cooking methods and ingredients.
  • Take into consideration any special request and dietary issues made by the guest.
  • Provide general property information.
  • Offer a warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests.
  • Interact with staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information.
  • Ensure final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guests.
  • Monitor assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional service.
  • Address any guest issue promptly and with high concern.
  • Aid other events and restaurant staff as needed.
  • Maintain constant awareness of safety issues (e.g., broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks, and suspicious persons).
