About The Position

The Banquet Captain plays a key role in delivering The Medallion Club experience during banquet events, tournaments, and private functions. This position ensures seamless event execution by leading service staff, maintaining a member focused environment, and upholding the club’s high standards of hospitality. The ideal candidate is attentive, organized, and committed to service excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; specialty or technical training preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience in the service industry, ideally in catering or banquet operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with members, guests, and team members.
  • Proven customer service skills with the ability to resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages; applicable state certifications required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, multitask, and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Understanding of food preparation basics, food safety, sanitation standards, and bar terminology.
  • Ability to operate banquet‑related equipment including ovens, hot boxes, coffee machines, soda dispensers, dishwashers, beer taps, and more.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills; fluent in English.
  • Food Handler Certification and Alcohol Server Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute banquet and tournament events according to Banquet Event Orders and the Director of Catering’s specifications.
  • Lead and support service staff in event preparation, ensuring all team members present a polished, professional image and proper uniform.
  • Oversee room setup, including tables, chairs, linens, table settings, glassware, and event‑specific layouts.
  • Ensure all event spaces, including restrooms, remain clean, stocked, and guest‑ready throughout service.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff regarding menus, timelines, and event details to ensure smooth coordination.
  • Maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere for members and guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction at all times.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, safety, and hospitality while upholding club standards.
