About The Position

We are in search for a Banquet Captain to join our Food & Beverage department, reporting to the Catering & Events Manager. This role will liaise with the Catering & Events Manager and the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or Banquet Chef to meet customer expectations. Your main duties and responsibilities will include quality and level of services, preparing the venue, and coordinating the service of meals.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Food and Beverage or Banquet Captain, or similar Supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional ability to execute banquets and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in supervising banquet venue staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with Catering & Events Manager and the Executive Chef.
  • Extensive knowledge of catering equipment and venue requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Food service experience required for banquets in high end restaurant setting, hotel, or country club.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and Oversee Banquet and Club Events with a “Hands-On” Approach.
  • Help Plan the venue layout according to the number of members / guests and the type of event.
  • Supervise the placement of tables, chairs, cutlery, plates, glasses, table linens, centerpieces, heating lamps, serving utensils, and carving stations.
  • Consult with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or Banquet Chef regarding the timing of meal courses to be served.
  • Oversee the seating of guests, the serving of meals and beverages, and the clearing of tables.
  • Assist in preparing work schedules and complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Inputs orders into point of sale (POS) system if needed.
  • In some cases will “Bill the Event” with appropriate fees/ pricing from contract.
  • Handle any complaints when they occur.
  • Assures proper inventory of all banquet service and setup equipment and supplies to meet required needs.
  • Sets the standards in all banquet/meetings, related operations including innovative and creative Food & Beverage displays.
  • Runs end-of-shift reports and ensures all chits have been closed for shift if applicable.
  • Continues to acquire knowledge in the latest trends of special events and service by reading trade publications, attending seminars and furthering education.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by the Catering & Events Manager, such as assisting in management of other F&B areas. (I.e. Restaurants / Outlets during which times we are not occupied with Banquets).
