About The Position

Columbia Hospitality is seeking a Banquet Captain for Salish Lodge & Spa. This role is responsible for maintaining standards for food and beverage quality, presentation, handling, sanitation, and safety. The Banquet Captain will serve food and beverages to guests, provide quality customer service, advise guests on food and beverage offerings, and communicate directly with Culinary and Stewarding teams during service. This position coordinates the timing of each course, assists in acquiring special equipment for banquet functions, and conducts pre-shift briefings for team members. The Banquet Captain also serves as the point of contact during events, acting as a liaison between guests and team members, and resolving guest issues and concerns.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in a high volume, quality banquet service operation; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Previous food & beverage supervisory experience
  • Basic computer literacy in the Point-of-Sale system and the sales and catering computer application
  • Must have current WA Food Handler Card and Class 12 MAST

Responsibilities

  • Maintains standards for food and beverage quality, presentation, handling, sanitation and safety
  • Follows all appropriate policies and procedures
  • Serves food and beverage to guests and provides quality customer service
  • Advises guests, clients and team members on matters relating to food and beverage offerings
  • Communicates directly with the Culinary and Stewarding teams during service to ensure proper client and guest service is being achieved
  • Coordinates the timing of each course to correspond with the dining pace of the guests
  • Assists in the acquisition of special equipment needed for banquet functions
  • Conducts a briefing or “line-up” with team members at the beginning of each shift in order to keep staff informed of updates, changes and/or problematic situations
  • Represents the lodge as the point of contact during events, acts as a liaison between guests and team members, responds and works to resolve guest issues and concerns as necessary.
