Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Serving It Right certification (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, cocktails, and responsible beverage service
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, dependable, and committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; additional language skills are an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous bartending experience in banquets, restaurants, hotels, or high-volume venues is preferred
  • Luxury hotel or large-scale event experience is considered an asset
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification is an asset
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, friendly, engaging, and personalized service in accordance with Fairmont service standards
  • Prepare, stock, operate, and dismantle banquet bars for meetings, weddings, receptions, and special events
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately using approved recipes, measures, and presentation standards
  • Review event requirements to ensure bars are fully stocked and event-ready
  • Verify legal drinking age and provide responsible beverage service in accordance with Serving It Right and hotel policies
  • Monitor guest consumption and respond appropriately to signs of intoxication, escalating concerns when required
  • Maintain accurate cash, charge, inventory, and beverage consumption records throughout each event
  • Keep bar stations clean, organized, fully stocked, and compliant with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with banquet, culinary, stewarding, and leadership teams to deliver seamless event execution
  • Participate in departmental briefings, training sessions, and service excellence initiatives
  • Follow all hotel policies, health and safety procedures, and brand standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful banquet operations
