About The Position

Under moderate supervision, this role collects and documents accounts involving bankruptcy, deceased estates (probated and non-probated), and life or disability insurance claims. The specialist reviews, monitors, and ensures timely handling of all consumer loans, lines, and credit cards in a chapter 7, 11, 12, or 13 bankruptcy status from notice receipt through final court clearance. The role is responsible for meeting deadlines, attaining company goals in accordance with departmental and legal guidelines, and managing risk by exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and following policies and procedures. The specialist is accountable for doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions drive a positive customer experience, and consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks within the Bank's risk appetite.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum one year customer service, bankruptcy, or probate related field in a call center.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and detail orientation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient with computer systems and keyboarding / data entry skills with moderate speed and accuracy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet department commitments with regard to job knowledge, quality, efficiency, initiative, teamwork, customer service, and overall job performance.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates internal bankruptcy processes and procedures for new bankruptcy filings.
  • Contacts successor in interest, client, executor, or attorney to obtain cooperation and/or commitment.
  • Submits claims to courts for inclusion in the estate and probate process.
  • Assigns accounts to outside vendors for Bankruptcy representation such as adequate plan treatment, reaffirmation agreements, proofs of claim, and adversaries.
  • Ensures both internal and vendor compliance on all regulatory requirements, bank policies and procedures, and bankruptcy and probate laws, including unique requirements at the federal, state, and district level.
  • Identifies and escalates complaints and/or accounts with unique circumstances to leadership as outlined by the bank’s complaint management program.
  • Conducts research including, but not limited to: title searches, statements, contracts, credit applications, lien verifications, customer files, payment copies, and other miscellaneous research functions.
  • Responsible for entering client information and account status updates via the appropriate Bank systems to ensure accuracy of information and bank compliance with bankruptcy regulations.
  • Processes tickets for physical payments including trustee checks, vendor remittances, Life/Health Insurance carriers, and other proceeds checks.
  • Advises outside vendors to proceed with litigation on escalated issues, when evidenced necessary.
