We are seeking a customer-focused Banking Specialist II to join our retail banking team. The Banking Specialist II serves as a frontline representative of First Bank and plays a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service while accurately processing financial transactions. This position combines traditional teller responsibilities with relationship-building and referral activities designed to deepen client relationships and support financial success. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year of customer service, cash handling, sales, retail, hospitality, or banking experience preferred.
  • Previous bank teller, universal banker, personal banker, or retail banking experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and building client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to actively listen and respond effectively to customer needs.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and generating referrals.
  • Strong accuracy when processing financial transactions and maintaining records.
  • Experience managing cash transactions and balancing cash drawers.
  • Ability to evaluate situations, make sound decisions, and resolve customer concerns effectively.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate online banking, mobile banking, and other financial technology solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and service quality in a fast-paced banking environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and create positive experiences during every client interaction.
  • Build strong customer relationships through meaningful conversations and personalized service.
  • Identify customer needs and provide education regarding banking products, services, and financial solutions.
  • Promote customer loyalty and increase relationship depth through proactive referrals and service excellence.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and service concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Accurately process daily banking transactions including: Deposits, Withdrawals, Check cashing, Loan payments, Transfers, Money orders, Cash advances, Account servicing transactions.
  • Balance and maintain an assigned cash drawer according to bank procedures.
  • Adhere to all cash handling, balancing, and settlement requirements.
  • Verify transaction accuracy and maintain detailed records.
  • Identify and report suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services based on customer needs.
  • Generate referrals for personal banking, lending, mortgage, investments, treasury management, and other financial services.
  • Support branch sales and relationship-building goals.
  • Educate customers regarding available banking solutions and digital banking tools.
  • Assist customers with: Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Mobile Deposit, Debit Card Services, Electronic Banking Solutions.
  • Increase customer adoption of self-service technologies and digital banking resources.
  • Demonstrate digital solutions that improve convenience and customer experience.
  • Follow all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and security standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and compliance with operational controls.
  • Support fraud prevention efforts and protect bank assets.
  • Complete all required operational and compliance activities accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate effectively with branch team members and business partners.
  • Support branch operations and customer service initiatives.
  • Participate in branch meetings, training, and development activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
