About The Position

The Banking Operations Manager supports day-to-day Banking Operations with deep specialization in Lockbox processing, helping ensure service excellence, operational accuracy, and strong risk and control discipline. This role provides backup support for operations leadership, contributes to process improvement and change initiatives, and partners across the organization to maintain effective, scalable, and well-controlled operations. The position is critical to building and sustaining bench strength within the Lockbox department.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience in Banking Operations or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Lockbox Operations, remittance processing, workflow management, exception handling, and operational controls.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working in high-volume or critical issue customer service roles, with prior experience in similar functions.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with Lockbox workflows, including mail extraction, item processing, exception handling, balancing, reconciliation, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience implementing, refining, and adjusting Lockbox workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and service delivery.
  • Strong experience supporting payment processing operations, including remittance processing, transaction quality control, research and adjustments, and timely resolution of processing exceptions.
  • Experience working with high-speed scanning equipment and related image capture technology in a Lockbox or payment processing environment.
  • Certifications such as AAP, PMP, Six Sigma, or similar are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day Lockbox Operations to help ensure service levels, accuracy, productivity, and timely resolution of exceptions; provide backup support for senior operations leadership, as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Lockbox processing by providing guidance on workflows, exception handling, operational controls, and best practices across HOA, commercial, loan, and mortgage payment processing.
  • Maintain strong First Line of Defense controls, including adherence to procedures, documentation standards, record retention requirements, and timely escalation of operational, compliance, and service-related issues.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit, compliance, and risk activities; support issue remediation, evidence collection, and control readiness across the operation.
  • Monitor daily volumes, staffing, service levels, and quality metrics; develop reporting and apply trend analysis to improve throughput, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
  • Support modernization and automation initiatives within Lockbox Operations by assisting with requirements definition, solution testing, process implementation, and adoption efforts.
  • Provide frontline leadership by coaching team members, supporting scheduling and coverage, assisting with performance management, and helping build bench strength for critical roles.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to resolve issues, implement changes, and provide clear operational updates to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
