Position Overview
The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Supervisor supports the administration of the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) programs. This position serves as a subject matter expert and working supervisor responsible for conducting and reviewing suspicious activity investigations, preparing regulatory reports, overseeing daily BSA operations, and providing guidance to frontline and operations staff. The BSA Supervisor partners closely with the BSA Officer to maintain an effective, risk-based compliance program that meets regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This role contributes to the Bank’s overall financial crime prevention efforts while supporting a strong culture of compliance and operational integrity. This is an on-site position that may be based at any of our locations and requires a minimum of four (4) days per week in the office.

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years of BSA/AML related experience within a financial institution.
• Comprehensive knowledge of BSA, AML, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, FinCEN, CIP, CDD, EDD, and related regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting suspicious activity investigations, transaction analysis, customer risk reviews, and regulatory reporting.
• Experience preparing and reviewing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and other regulatory filings.
• Working knowledge of financial crime detection methodologies, transaction monitoring systems, and case management processes.
• Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, and remediation efforts.
• Knowledge of automated transaction monitoring systems; experience with Verafin is preferred.
• Understanding of risk management, internal controls, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations and apply regulatory guidance within a community banking environment.
• Prior experience providing work direction, training, mentoring, or supervisory support is preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Criminal Justice, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with Verafin is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate suspicious activity alerts and unusual account activity to identify potential money laundering, fraud, elder financial exploitation, structuring, or other financial crimes.
• Review transaction monitoring reports and perform detailed customer activity analysis.
• Prepare and review Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and other required regulatory filings.
• Ensure all filings are accurate, complete, and submitted within established regulatory timeframes.
• Document investigations and maintain supporting records in accordance with Bank policies, regulatory requirements, and record retention standards.
• Perform customer risk reviews, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and periodic reviews of high-risk customers.
• Support the administration of the Bank’s BSA, AML, OFAC, CIP, and CDD programs.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, training, and support to BSA Analysts and other assigned staff.
• Review analyst work for quality, accuracy, completeness, and adherence to departmental standards.
• Assist with workflow management to ensure timely completion of investigations, reviews, and regulatory filings.
• Support employee development through coaching, knowledge sharing, and ongoing training.
• Review and approve employee timecards and assist with departmental coverage and workload coordination as assigned.
• Serve as a resource to branch personnel, operations teams, and business units regarding suspicious activity reporting, CIP, CDD, OFAC, and related compliance requirements.
• Provide guidance regarding customer onboarding, high-risk accounts, and suspicious activity identification.
• Communicate emerging financial crime trends, risks, and regulatory developments to management and staff.
• Promote a strong culture of compliance throughout the organization through effective communication and collaboration.
• Monitor compliance with BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN, OFAC, and other applicable laws, regulations, and guidance.
• Assist in updating policies, procedures, risk assessments, and program documentation.
• Support management of transaction monitoring systems, ensuring timely tracking, follow-up, and completion of required activities.
• Participate in transaction monitoring system validation, tuning, and control enhancement activities.
• Track and report key BSA metrics, trends, and monitoring results to management.
• Support internal control activities and ensure adherence to departmental standards and regulatory expectations.
• Assist with regulatory examinations, internal audits, and independent BSA reviews.
• Gather documentation, prepare reports, and coordinate responses to examiner and auditor requests.
• Monitor and assist with remediation of audit and examination findings.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to BSA operations, workflows, controls, and reporting processes.
• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency within the Bank’s financial crimes compliance programs.
• Conduct or support employee training related to BSA, AML, OFAC, and financial crime prevention.
• Perform additional duties as assigned that are consistent with the business needs of the Bank and the scope, responsibilities, and level of the role.
• Provides day-to-day guidance, training, mentoring, workflow oversight, and quality review support to BSA Analysts and other assigned staff.
• May assist with timecard review and approval and support departmental workload coordination as assigned.
