About The Position
Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic work pieces according to specifications. PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold-drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components.
Requirements
- High School or equivalent
- 1-2 years industrial Bandsaw experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
- Requires excellent measurement skills.
- Requires basic knowledge of computer functionality.
- Ability to follow instructions from technical parameters.
- Requires good organizational and problem solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
- Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Responsibilities
- Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tool
- Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tension
- Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct work piece, using hand tools and measuring device
- Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions
- Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications
- Mounts work piece in holding device, manually or using hoist
- Operates saw to cut along scribed lines
