About The Position

Colorado Springs Christian Schools (CSCS), founded in 1971, is a leading Christian educational institution for grades K-12. This role involves guiding the learning process, developing students' musical technique and proficiency, instructing musical development, and instilling a love of music through singing and performances. The teacher will employ various instructional techniques, prepare lessons, organize musical activities, create a conducive learning environment, monitor student progress, and maintain accurate records. Collaboration with the Fine Arts Department is essential for a successful K-12 program. Employees must fully support the school's mission, values, and doctrinal statement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (Music preferred) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Has or able to obtain an Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) teacher certificate by the end of the first year of teaching.
  • Has or able to obtain CPR & First Aid training.
  • Evidence of spiritual maturity and strong grasp of Christian education; ability to demonstrate true biblical integration

Responsibilities

  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established curriculum goals
  • Develop students’ technique and proficiency for playing their selected band instrument
  • Monitor and assess progress in learning to sing, play rhythm instruments, and understand musical concepts
  • Instruct musical development to include theory, composition, and the reading of sheet music
  • Instill a love of music through singing and performances
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students
  • Prepare appropriately for classes and show written evidence of preparation, including lesson plans
  • Develop, plan and organize musical activities appropriate to the established curriculum
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning; includes appropriate code of conduct policy
  • Monitor students and communicate with parents and administrators regarding the progress and potential of students
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records including attendance and grades
  • Work with CSCS Fine Arts Department to facilitate K-12 successional program
  • Commits and fully supports the missional and organizational standards including our Core Values, Mission Statement and Doctrinal Statement
  • Through effective communication, build healthy, effective relationships with students and families to support and enforce the biblical, whole-child educational experience
  • Understanding of K-8 curriculum and demonstrated ability to integrate projects into the curriculum
  • Work with Fine Arts Department Chair and Curriculum Supervisor to maintain academic transition standards
  • Participate in curriculum and staff development training
  • Participate in before / after school activities as requested by administrator
  • Works well with other teachers, support staff and administrators

  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day as well as an occasional evening activity as assigned
  • Maintains a safe and orderly classroom to promote an inviting place for students to learn and to inhibit relational aggression

  • Supervises teacher aides and volunteers as assigned

Benefits

  • Salary: $34,500 - $42,000 yearly
