Band Leader
About The Position
The Band Leader is responsible for casting and performing on two stages. One stage requires a solo acoustic guitar player vocalist, and the other requires a vocalist leader who will perform with an acoustic guitar player. The role involves performing designated instruments and/or singing live, with the ability to stand or sit for up to four 45-minute intervals. Responsibilities also include setting up and striking personal musical equipment, completing sound checks, maintaining a clean personal space in the break room, and adhering to a strict performance schedule. Paid rehearsals will be conducted at a rate of $38.30/hour at Magic Mountain or a designated off-site studio. Applicants must be comfortable performing in crowds, as well as in varying weather conditions including heat and cold, for four 45-minute shows daily. Membership in the American Federation of Musicians is required.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Constantly standing, talking, climbing walking, reaching, using finger movement, grasping, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversation, using hearing acuity, seeing near far, stooping, bending, kneeling.
- Working in extreme heat, sun, cold, wetness, humidity and temperature change.
- Ability to perform designated instrument and/or sing live.
- Ability to stand or sit and perform a maximum of (4) 45-minute intervals.
- Ability to set up and strike personal musical equipment.
- Ability to complete sound check once daily (when appropriate).
- Ability to clean up personal trash from break room and maintain on-time schedule performance.
- Ability to work in crowds, heat, and cold for (4) 45 minutes shows.
- Must be able to join the American Federation of Musicians, if not a member already.
