About The Position

The Band Director - Assistant shall assist in directing the instructional program for all band students and assists in the coordinating of campus band activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements - All Level or Secondary Music education
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Knowledge of subject(s) to which assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Public-school music teaching experience

Nice To Haves

Instrumental music experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in the band program
Coordinate the instructional process for band students in concert/marching/jazz, theory, appreciation/history classes
Maintain accurate band inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operation of all activities
Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students
Actively coordinate the efforts of the band booster organization
Coordinate campus band activities with campus programs, staff, and community
Prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events
Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support music education
Participate in the professional development of personal teaching competencies
Communicates expectations and program goals to students, faculty, parents, community, and booster club members
Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
Direct the work of instructional aide(s)
