About The Position
Global Impact Group LLC is seeking Bambara Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support their USCIS contract. Bambara is a Mande language spoken in Mali and West Africa, crucial for asylum and immigration interviews. Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services, delivering language access in over 80 languages for federal agencies.
Requirements
- Native or near-native fluency in Bambara and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government preferred).
- Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/5 federal clearance.

- Any certifications (community, NGO, court, or medical interpreting credentials preferred).
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Bambara ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
- Interpret accurately, neutrally, and professionally in immigration, asylum, and legal contexts.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
