About The Position

As a Temporary Ballot Tabulation Center (BTC) Adjudicator, you facilitate the election process by reviewing voters' intent, processing ballots, duplicating damaged ballots, and performing data entry. Maricopa County Elections serves over 2.5 million registered voters as they exercise their right to make informed decisions regarding the selection of local and national leaders and ballot measures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must be a registered Republican or Democrat voter
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary
  • Must have legible penmanship

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of general office experience
  • One or more years of moderate computer use experience
  • One or more years of election experience
  • One or more years of customer service experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Determines a voter’s intent on a bipartisan Duplication or Adjudication Board
  • Reviews ballots using election's proprietary software to accurately assess a voter’s intent
  • Collaborates in teams of two, each representing different political affiliations (e.g., Republican and Democrat)
  • Ensures thorough and legible documentation throughout the tabulation procedure
  • Assists other divisions within Elections or the Recorder’s Office with daily operations
