About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Tenneva is hiring a Baler Operator for its Sustainability team. This hands-on, physical production role supports the organization’s sustainability, employment, and job-training mission. The operator processes cardboard, clothing, plastics, and other materials using a baler, following established procedures and safety guidelines. The position requires focus, reliability, and the ability to work independently as needed while contributing to a team.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Basic math, reading, and paperwork skills.
• Strong focus and ability to stay on task.
• Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
• Team-oriented attitude and flexibility.
• Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift throughout the shift.
• Comfort working in a physical, production-based environment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior baling experience.
• Prior forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the baler safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
• Process cardboard, clothing, plastics, and other materials into bales.
• Meet daily production quotas.
• Load, distribute, and compact materials evenly in the baler.
• Secure completed bales with wire.
• Keep the baler and surrounding work area clean and organized.
• Monitor equipment condition and report concerns immediately.
• Follow safety guidelines and remain alert to coworkers.
• Support sustainability goals through consistent, quality work.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sustainability.
