About The Position

The Baler Operator operates a baling machine to bale scrap foam, ties off completed bales, and packages them for shipment. The role involves moving scrap-foam buggies between plant areas and the baling area, separating foam types when needed, loading and activating the baler, and handling completed bales for weighing, tagging, and storage. The operator maintains required records, follows safety and operating procedures, wears required PPE, and helps keep the production area and equipment clean and maintained. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
• Squeeze tow motor license required for moving completed bales.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Push empty scrap buggies from the baling area to plant areas where they are used, exchange them for full buggies, and bring the full buggies back to the baling area.
• Separate foam types for separate baling when needed.
• Load scrap foam into the baler and activate it using hand buttons.
• Tie off each completed bale.
• Use a licensed squeeze tow motor to remove completed bales from the baler and move them to the scales for weighing and tagging.
• Move completed bales to the bale storage area and repeat the process throughout the shift.
• Ensure scrap foam is baled and stored in the proper area and that each bale is tagged with the correct weight.
• Turn in the daily log sheet to the lead person.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the production area and follow proper safety techniques.
• Complete assigned general area maintenance duties on equipment, with help from the maintenance department when necessary.
• Follow all procedures and guidelines and perform other duties as assigned.
