About The Position

This position is responsible for providing the highest level of service possible to Bloomingfoods internal and external customers. The role involves efficiently and effectively performing daily duties of receiving, stocking, selling, replenishing, food preparation, and serving customers in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
  • Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established standards.
  • Use appropriate and professional language, behavior, appearance, and conduct.
  • Educate non-member customers about the co-op business model, mission, values, and advantages of cooperative ownership.
  • Inspect incoming deliveries for damage, expiration dates, and quality, reporting issues to the Department Manager.
  • Unload, process, and sign for deliveries.
  • Stock displays according to established schematics.
  • Cull short-date, damaged, or low-quality items and follow disposal procedures.
  • Maintain well-organized displays, ensuring proper rotation, facing, and clean fixtures.
  • Maintain clean, sanitary, and well-organized storage areas and work spaces.
  • Operate dish machine, wash dishes and cooking equipment.
  • Ensure accuracy of price labeling and signage, reporting discrepancies.
  • Follow established systems for proper storage, handling, and backstock-to-shelf rotation.
  • Provide a friendly, engaging, and informative experience for every customer at the service counter.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to meet OSHA, health department, Organic, HAACP, COOL, and other relevant department standards.
  • Practice knife and equipment safety at all times.
  • Prepare in-house deli foods following established recipes.
  • Assemble and finish foods for the food bar.
  • Prepare special orders for customer pick-up and delivery.
  • Ensure carts and baskets are available to customers.
  • Perform various cleaning and maintenance duties in retail areas, dining areas, office, food prep areas, and facility grounds.
  • Maintain restroom cleanliness and ensure adequate supplies.
  • Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures and report deviations.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including set-up, tear-down, cleaning, and security.
  • Participate in regular store inventories.
  • Follow co-op policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility for the effectiveness of training and performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Provide effective communication to ensure productive work teams.
  • Maintain open communication links with customers for inquiries and feedback.
  • Stay informed of co-op and department news.
