That's WEIS! This role is responsible for keeping the bakery department well-stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. The associate will greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about products, and help resolve customer concerns. They will take customer orders, determine customer needs, and set up special-order tables during peak hours. Responsibilities also include setting bakery cases, building displays, and potentially writing on cakes. Ensuring merchandise is fresh, saleable, and properly priced with correct signage is crucial. The associate will handle spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration product according to company procedures and remove unsaleable product to ensure quality. There may be opportunities to assist with the production of breads, pastries, and other baked goods, adhering to production logs and company-approved recipes. General sanitation in the department is a key responsibility, including following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to maintain work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases to meet health and OSHA requirements. Proper trash disposal is also expected. Depending on training, the associate may assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries, and may also assist with baling cardboard. The role involves assisting in minimizing shrink and controlling damages, reporting shortages or overages to the manager, and cooperating with co-workers and supervisors for the smooth function of the department and store. Continuous improvement of job performance and proper utilization of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are expected. Associates may also be called upon to assist in other departments.
