About The Position

Empire supports Meat/Seafood, Deli/Bakery, Produce, and Grocery suppliers in Kroger stores within an assigned territory. This role involves ensuring best-in-class in-store merchandising and acting as a subject matter expert for department products. The technician will train customer associates on food safety, preparation techniques, order placement, and more.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Report required.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel regularly between work sites.
  • Prolonged periods of standing – 80% of the time.
  • Ability to change positions between sitting, squatting, standing and kneeling on a regular basis.
  • Regular lifting and moving up to 40-60 pounds from one location to another, sometimes several feet away from each other.
  • Regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to see objects, information on computer screens, and/or view written information, from distances of 20-40 feet.
  • Regular operation of a personal motor vehicle to and from work sites.
  • Regular operation of manual pallet jacks and hand trucks on work sites.
  • Regular operation of sharp cutting objects, as needed.
  • MS Excel proficiency.
  • Ability to write clear and concise correspondence.
  • Ability to accurately exchange information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to be able to operate autonomously, with strong personal drive for results.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one or group situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple to sometimes complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • 3+ years of CPG/grocery/retail/food service industry related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Product Placement & Maintenance: Rotate product, conduct shelf tag checks, ensure retail objectives and shelf standards are met, maintain distribution of approved items, sell and service principal accounts, weigh, package, code date and label products, use food equipment for preparation and special orders, and maintain job aids/recipes.
  • Product Analysis & Reporting: Maintain territorial records, review sales reports, maintain competitive awareness, report on progress toward goals, utilize reporting tools like PowerBI or Go Spot Check, introduce new ideas and sales opportunities, and adhere to inventory analysis and reporting processes.
  • Promotional Display Maintenance: Set up displays, coordinate with Operations on promotional programs, execute point-of-sale material and coupons, and act as primary executor for large-scale projects like grand openings and remodels.
  • Customer Support and Training: Establish rapport with store personnel, perform training demonstrations for employees on product preparation/display, teach food safety standards, and train customer associates on order placement, product management, rotation, handling, logging, and sanitation.
  • Other Administrative Duties: Attend district meetings and training seminars, communicate via email and telephone, maintain territory files and company equipment, attend company meetings, and exercise expense control.
