About The Position

The Bakery Manager is responsible for leading all bakery department operations, including production, merchandising, inventory control, food safety, labor management, and associate development. This role ensures high‑quality baked goods, strong sales execution, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service while meeting company standards and performance goals. The Bakery Manager is a hands‑on leader accountable for daily bakery production, presentation, and team performance.

Requirements

  • Directly supervises bakery associates
  • Makes day‑to‑day operational decisions within the department
  • Partners with Store Director and Assistant Store Director on performance management
  • Does not independently finalize terminations without leadership approval

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily bakery production including baking, finishing, packaging, and case replenishment
  • Ensure adherence to company recipes, production standards, and quality expectations
  • Monitor freshness, proper rotation (FIFO), and product availability throughout the day
  • Adjust production plans based on sales trends and seasonal demand
  • Maintain attractive, full, and properly signed bakery displays
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Enforce proper food handling, temperature control, labeling, and storage procedures
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized prep, production, and sales areas
  • Complete required logs, audits, and documentation accurately and on time
  • Prepare for and support health inspections and internal audits
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop bakery associates
  • Create schedules to support production needs while managing labor budgets
  • Assign daily tasks and follow up on execution and productivity
  • Provide feedback, performance coaching, recognition, and corrective action as needed
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team‑oriented work environment
  • Manage department labor to meet budgeted guidelines
  • Monitor productivity and adjust staffing based on workload and volume
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and compliance with attendance policies
  • Balance production demands with efficient labor utilization
  • Manage ordering of ingredients, supplies, and packaging
  • Control waste, spoilage, and shrink through proper inventory practices
  • Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and dating of products
  • Deliver excellent customer service and resolve bakery‑related concerns
  • Support special orders, holidays, and promotional production needs
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence during peak business hours
