This position exemplifies and ensures strong customer service in all aspects of the job. The Bakery Manager directs and controls the operation of the Bakery Department to achieve sales and profit objectives. They champion corporate and division customer service programs, plan and organize day-to-day operations, and conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with product quality, sanitation, safety, and security requirements. The role involves overseeing and assisting with all bakery department duties, implementing promotional displays, preventing shrink, controlling expenses, and maintaining accurate records. This includes ordering, checking, receiving, and controlling inventory, stocking and rotating product, and maintaining department records. The manager ensures product quality and merchandising standards are met, complies with labeling laws and health regulations, and handles customer relations, including taking and filling special orders and engaging in suggestive selling. They also supervise, motivate, direct, train, and participate in hiring Bakery Department personnel, monitor associate performance, and identify associates with high potential for advancement. Communication of sales goals and department performance to associates is key, as is ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures. The role requires resolving associate complaints and immediately reporting potential policy violations to the Store Director.
