About The Position

The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bakery department, including production, merchandising, food safety, labor management, and associate development. This role ensures high‑quality baked goods, attractive presentation, accurate inventory control, and excellent customer service while meeting sales and labor goals. The Bakery Manager leads daily bakery operations and is accountable for producing fresh, high‑quality products in compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company standards.

Requirements

  • Directly manages bakery associates
  • Makes day‑to‑day operational decisions for the bakery department
  • Partners with Store Director and ASD on performance management and discipline
  • Does not independently finalize terminations without leadership approval

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily bakery production including baking, finishing, and packaging of products
  • Ensure consistent execution of recipes, production schedules, and quality standards
  • Maintain freshness standards, proper rotation (FIFO), and product availability
  • Monitor production levels to align supply with sales demand
  • Ensure bakery cases and displays are full, attractive, and properly signed
  • Execute bakery planograms, promotional programs, and seasonal displays
  • Ensure proper signage, pricing accuracy, and product presentation
  • Partner with store leadership to drive bakery sales and promotional execution
  • Adjust production and merchandising based on sales trends and customer demand
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop bakery associates
  • Schedule associates to meet production needs and labor budgets
  • Assign tasks and ensure timely execution of daily production plans
  • Provide feedback, recognition, and corrective action as needed
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment
  • Plan and manage department labor within budgeted guidelines
  • Monitor productivity and adjust staffing based on volume and workload
  • Ensure timekeeping accuracy and compliance with attendance policies
  • Balance service, production, and labor efficiency
  • Manage ordering of ingredients, supplies, and packaging
  • Monitor inventory levels and minimize waste, spoilage, and shrink
  • Conduct proper inventory counts and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of bakery products
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Ensure associates follow proper food handling and safety procedures
  • Complete required logs, temperature checks, and documentation
  • Prepare for and support health inspections and internal audits
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve bakery‑related concerns
  • Support custom orders, special requests, and holiday production
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence in the department
  • Build customer trust through quality and consistency
