About The Position

Ingles Markets, established in 1963, is a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. The Bakery Manager is responsible for the effective overall operation of the Bakery Department to achieve sales and profit goals established for the department. This role is essential for providing customers with a warm, helpful shopping experience and involves training, development opportunities, and a supportive work environment.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Previous bakery experience is required.
  • Food safety knowledge is required.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs especially during times of high volume and/or stress.
  • Must be able to read and do simple math problems.
  • Wants to be part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Previous team management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers within 10 feet and answer questions promptly.
  • Provide accurate product information and recommendations.
  • Train staff on store procedures and operational standards.
  • Prepare weekly schedules, production sheets, and supply orders.
  • Manage inventory for freshness, quality, and proper stock levels.
  • Address employee issues and coordinate disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing displays.
  • Record price changes, in-store usage, voids, and spoilage accurately.
  • Decorate, package, label, and price bakery products, complete special orders.
  • Operate bakery equipment (oven, proofer, mixers, slicer, fryer, scale, decorating tools).
  • Verify invoices and log deliveries securely.
  • Submit reports and monthly inventory on time.
  • Apply pricing based on margin guidelines and profit goals.
  • Follow sanitation, safety, and space management plans.
  • Handle damaged or spoiled goods per policy.
  • Communicate clearly within the store and organization.
  • Monitor hazards and ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours and store rules.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
