About The Position

The Bakery/Deli Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and monitoring quality assurance standards. The clerk supports the Customer 1st strategy, encourages excellent service, and demonstrates respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The clerk prepares bakery and deli items to customer specifications, provides samples and product recommendations, shares information about specials, and ensures customers receive fresh products and appropriate portions. The position involves preparing, cooking, packaging, labeling, stocking, and inventorying food and ingredients; checking freshness and sell-by dates; maintaining product and equipment temperatures and logs; and complying with food safety and company equipment guidelines. The clerk helps customers locate products and answers questions, stays informed about products and promotions, monitors inventory and reports discrepancies, and supports a welcoming environment. The role also includes following safety procedures, inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs, notifying management of accidents, and working cooperatively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
Offer product samples and inform customers about bakery and deli specials.
Provide fresh products and appropriate portion sizes, and recommend items to customers.
Use bakery and kitchen equipment according to company guidelines.
Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions; measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
Check product freshness and sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise; monitor inventory conditions and report discrepancies.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Help customers locate products, answer questions, and provide information about products and promotions.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming customer environment.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines and comply with safety procedures; identify and report unsafe conditions.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and handle conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Follow directions, seek assistance when necessary, and act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, people with special needs, and older adults.
