About The Position

The Bakery Clerk position aims to assist customers in their shopping experience by producing, stocking, and packaging bakery items efficiently, in a friendly, and courteous manner. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Bakery Manager.

Requirements

Must obtain a food handling permit within the first 14 days of employment.
Complete ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
Answer customer questions accurately and courteously by knowing department products, procedures, and policies.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
Follow instructions for breaking out next day’s product.
Know, comply with, and encourage compliance with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
Demonstrate basic math and reading skills required for the position.

Nice To Haves

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist customers by filling orders at the bakery counter.
Merchandise products creatively and appealingly, keeping display cases clean and full.
Ensure product rotation to prevent stale or outdated items from being sold.
Prepare next day's product and address all special orders.
Stock, clean, and prepare the bakery for the next shift or business day.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and department for customers and coworkers.
Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
Promote sales by suggesting additional products or services.
Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when appropriate.
Unload incoming shipments of bakery ingredients and stock them neatly.
Complete additional tasks as identified by management and assist other stores or departments as needed.
