About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching department sales and profit goals and monitor established quality assurance standards. Prepare and decorate bakery items, including wedding cakes, according to customer requests, while following company guidelines and applicable health and safety regulations.

Requirements

Any retail experience.
Any bakery or cake decorating experience.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math.
Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to questions and make product suggestions.
Offer product samples to help customers discover items or products they ask about.
Prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, according to customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
Recommend bakery items to help customers find the products they want and need.
Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Use bakery equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens, according to company guidelines.
Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items.
Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Understand the store layout and locate products for customers; stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
Follow local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
Follow merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply control, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, and associate and customer engagement rules.
Reinforce safety programs by following procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud, and notify management of customer or employee accidents.
