About The Position

We are looking for a Bakery Associate to join our family-owned Italian grocery and assist the Bakery Department in making delicious and irresistible baked goods and treats. The Bakery Associate contributes to the company’s operation and success by assisting customers and maintaining a neat and visually appealing bakery department with a wide variety of freshly baked items. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong interpersonal skills, being able to excel in a fast-paced work environment, and the ability to multitask.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months’ previous experience in a retail grocery store or bakery.
• Can interact cordially with customers, including educating customers and offering suggestions.
• Can operate a cash register and possess basic math skills.
• Is punctual, reliable, and can adhere to a regularly assigned work schedule.
• Can work expeditiously and efficiently.
• Excels in a team environment.
• Can lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality customer service by engaging customers and responding to questions.
• Assisting in the mixing and preparing of baked goods, including the decorating of cakes, cookies, pies, and other desserts, and the procuring of ingredients for baked goods.
• Assisting customers with special orders, with extra attention given to specific requests.
• Assisting with the preparation of party platters, trays and pre-packaged goods.
• Weighing, preparing, packaging, and labeling goods in a precise and sanitary manner consistent with department guidelines.
• Setting up displays and ensuring prices and promotions are easily visible.
• Maintaining a sanitary and tidy work area, including cleaning cases, shelves, and aisles, sweeping and mopping floors, and ensuring proper safety signage.
• Complying with sanitation and hygienic standards and regulations.
