Bakery Associate/Joy Creator
About The Position
Part-time Joy Creators (Front of House Associates) are responsible for sweetening up the place, setting the mood, and making a stop in the bakery an event worth posting about. This role involves playing party planner by helping guests order the right cake for their celebrations and ensuring their orders go off without a hitch. The Joy Creator will make everyone feel welcomed and create an environment of generosity, happiness, and joy in the community. The bakery closes earlier than most food service jobs, offers flexible work schedules, and has a casual dress code (T-shirts and sneakers). This position also offers cake discounts, opportunities to make new friends, and a pleasant work environment with a great smell. Training is provided not only on crafting cake but also on career growth. The company values celebrating and bringing joy to the community.
Requirements
- Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have the flexibility to work two or more morning, midday, or evening shifts.
- Previous customer experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities
- Promptly greet walk-in and phone guests with genuine warmth and helpful enthusiasm to determine interests and needs and follows NbC Sweet Steps of Service to create a superior guest experience.
- Maintain strong product knowledge to educate guests on NbC cake distinction, size and flavor profile options, pricing, special promotions and complementary retail merchandise.
- Suggest additional merchandise, including balloons, candles and cards, to complete unique celebration.
- Process guest orders efficiently and accurately utilizing point-of-sale system and invite guests to join NbC Email Club to benefit from special promotions and remain connected.
- Uphold a clean and organized bakery presentation, which may include routine sweeping/mopping of the floor, and dusting/cleaning of countertops, windows and other surfaces.
- Restock retail merchandise and cake display case to ensure a strong visual presentation.
- Assist the Crafter in preparing cake decorations and packaging supplies as needed.
- Comply with all health and safety guidelines and NbC policies and procedures, including strict adherence to dress code and personal hygiene.
- Maintain a consistent work attendance and punctuality record.
