About The Position

Produces bread and bakery products. Stocks, packages, labels, and slices bread and other bakery products. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. This position works at a medium level, requiring frequent standing and walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and frequent use of hands and wrists including grasping and squeezing. The worker can occasionally lift 50 pounds and can lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds frequently.

Requirements

• All staff must complete and maintain all required food and work safety trainings and/or certifications.
• Works a schedule that is informed by the needs of the business and may be subject to change seasonally or due to varying staffing needs and demonstrates reliable and predictable attendance, in accordance with attendance policy and all applicable laws.

Nice To Haves

• Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience preferred.
• Knowledge and/or experience of artisan baking techniques and industry standard equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares production bakery area for store opening and closing.
• Produces bakery products in accordance with company and regulatory agency standards.
• Scales, mixes, shapes, and bakes bread and bakery products.
• Maintains fermentation methods.
• Slices, packages, and labels finished product.
• Ensures compliance with organic standards.
• Prepares, wraps, weighs, tares, prices, and presents Bakery department products as needed.
• Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
• Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
• Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count and condition.
• Communicates any issues to management and merchandising team.
• Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
• Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
• Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.
• Understands and complies with specific shift guidelines, tasks, and responsibilities.
• May participate in inventories and ordering.
• Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events.
• Demonstrates familiarity with products in department, with ability to continue learning.
• Notifies department manager or Manager On Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security, or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the store.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
