About The Position

Would you like to be responsible for maintaining order and decorum through providing security functions within courtrooms and adjacent public areas? You'll ensure the personal protection of judges, jurors, witnesses, attorneys and other persons involved with the court, including the general public. Be a part of something bigger by applying for St. Louis County's part-time bailiff position in Hibbing, MN. The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2025. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $20.50 - $26.73 per hour. St. Louis County does not participate in E-Verify. All employees must be continuously authorized to work in the United States, for St. Louis County, on a full-time basis. St. Louis County does not provide sponsorship for employment visas.

Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent.
Possession of a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Candidates with related training in law enforcement, military law enforcement or private security training and/or experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

Preserves order and control in courtrooms and common areas of the courthouses to ensure the safety of court officials, participants, and the general public.
Monitors and screens individuals, packages and personal items entering and leaving the courtroom using a variety of detection methods and devices.
Assists in providing security during heightened security situations.
Assists with emergency medical situations as needed.
Obtains defendants identifying information in accordance with applicable laws.
Directs and escorts non-combative custodial individuals within the courthouse.
