The ACAA’s Baggage System Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor - Airline Services and assumes responsibility for performing manual tasks for the Airline Services department. This role involves working safely and abiding by all ACAA safety guidelines, developing or participating in job safety analysis procedures, and operating scissor lift platform equipment. The technician will be responsible for clearing baggage jams, identifying airline sponsored property via IATA bar code tags, moving and loading baggage into conveyor systems, emptying trash receptacles, and cleaning all areas associated with the transference of airline baggage, including shop areas. Additionally, the role includes manually assigning baggage within conveyor systems, monitoring and "calling out" baggage system faults, understanding and using the "ACAA required" lockout/tagout program, and washing Airline Service vehicles. The technician will also clean the exit windows of automatic tag reader laser heads, assist Airline Service trades, and perform other related work as assigned. This position requires a high degree of responsibility and awareness for the safety practices and standards of an international airport.
