The Baggage Control Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth handling and transfer of passenger baggage while maintaining excellent customer service. This position involves coordinating contractual baggage handling operations in the bag room, including third-party services and aircraft baggage loading/offloading.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • At least one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret load sheets, bag tag scanners, and city codes.
  • Must have and maintain a valid US Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with airport security procedures and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with airline-specific baggage handling software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle baggage discrepancies efficiently.
  • Previous training or supervisory experience in baggage handling or airport operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor bag room functions to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Ensure baggage and containers are correctly loaded into aircraft bins.
  • Provide Load Control Agents and Weight & Balance offices with accurate baggage information.
  • Communicate flight arrival/departure times, baggage transfers, and passenger stand-by details to relevant departments or ground handlers.
  • Report any baggage irregularities or operational issues to the customer.
  • Conduct training on bag tag scanner usage, load sheet interpretation, and 3-letter city codes.
  • Comply with WFS site security procedures, ensuring awareness of security activities and reporting breaches or suspicious occurrences.
