About The Position

The Bag Machine Helper is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of bag machines by supplying the Operator with necessary materials. This role involves preparing rolls of film, loading them onto the machine, gathering various supplies, maintaining a clean work area, and managing waste disposal. The position requires physical stamina and attention to detail to keep up to four bag machines or eight lines supplied, and may involve assisting other helpers. The company emphasizes safety as a top priority and expects employees to comply with all policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good math skills required including fractions and percentages.
  • Must be able to read a ruler and measure.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to work with and interact effectively and professionally with coworkers in a team environment.
  • Must be able to read, understand and stay current with all department work instructions and procedures.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to lift and carry shafts weighing approximately 39 pounds.
  • Must be able to push swivel table with 20 pounds of force on each side.
  • Must be able to lift boxes of supplies weighing up to 87 inches high and weighing 28-32 pounds.
  • Must be able to carry a box of rubber washers weighing 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to transport supplies up to 800 feet.
  • Must be able to transport chip-board and wickets up to 300 feet, weighing approximately 5 lbs.
  • Must be able to unstack pallets with resin cradle on them, weighing approximately 15-20 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate a hi-lo/Industrial Forklift.
  • Must be able to operate an automatic hoist.
  • Must be able to operate a hand-operated cart, High-lo machine, or pallet-jack.
  • Must be able to operate a dolly and dumping sled for waste barrels.
  • Regular attendance is required.

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Bring supplies such as rolls of film, cardboard cartons, chipboard, and washers to the Operator to ensure continuous operation of the bag machine.
  • Prepare rolls by transporting new pallets from the warehouse using a hi-lo/Industrial Forklift, removing old shafts and cores, and loading new rolls onto the machine using an automatic hoist.
  • Record roll weight from the roll label onto the appropriate paper.
  • Gather and replenish supplies needed by the Bag Machine Operator, including boxes of supplies, rubber washers, chipboard, and wickets, using carts, a High-lo machine, or a pallet-jack.
  • Maintain general housekeeping by keeping the area clean, sweeping up debris, and removing barrels to the waste dumping station.
  • Weigh waste barrels on a scale, record the waste on the computer, and dump the waste using a dumping sled and control buttons.
  • Return completed order forms to the designated basket.
  • Comply with all AIB, Safety, and Company policies.
  • Participate and attend on-site employee meetings.
  • Be willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Assist other helpers as necessary.
