About The Position
The Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking motivated individuals to join the Bag Check Department for the 2026 Great New York State Fair. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and safety of the Fair by inspecting bags for prohibited items. The positions require individuals who are detail-oriented and committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all fairgoers. These are dynamic, hands-on positions involving working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Requirements
- 8-hour security course completion certificate
- Unexpired security guard license
- Active military member
- Active or retired police officer
Responsibilities
- Bag Screening: Inspecting all bags to identify and confiscate any prohibited items.
- Access Control: Managing the flow of people entering a venue or area, ensuring authorized entry and consistent application of entry rules.
- Guest Interaction: Providing clear and helpful information to visitors, answering questions, and maintaining a courteous and professional attitude.
- Safety Monitoring: Vigilantly detecting potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or suspicious activities, and reporting concerns to appropriate authorities.
- License Compliance: Ensuring all security personnel hold a valid guard license and adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
