About The Position

East Penn Manufacturing is looking for a highly motivated, customer focused Backup Route Driver to join our world class family of employees. Drive dedicated with East Penn and enjoy a consistent schedule and pay, onsite management and regular deliveries to dedicated customers. Guaranteed 40 hours per week, normally with a 5 day work week but schedule may vary based off need and scheduled runs. This position will pay $27.00 per hour. Pay rates are determined by role, level, and location. Plus a $2,500 Sign-On/Retention Bonus for CDL Drivers!

Requirements

  • Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Endorsements for Air Brakes and Hazmat (endorsements not required prior to employment but obtainment required during probationary period) Training provided.
  • Forklift experience required on both stand up and sit down forklifts.
  • Must be highly motivated and have good communication skills.
  • Literate with good communication and math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate may be requested to work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Pulling (physical lifting) orders, loading and unloading of trucks, and loading batteries for customers.
  • Delivers and picks up freight from specified customer locations, such as warehouses, retail stores, dealerships, and small businesses.
  • Verifies freight with shipping papers.
  • Drives to specified locations, applying knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, state and local driving laws, and hazardous material regulations.
  • Uses skills in highway navigation as well as maneuvering a vehicle in various situations, such as narrow passageways, heavy traffic, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Inspects the vehicle for mechanical and safety defects before and after each trip, and submits a report indicating the vehicle condition.
  • Maintains a Driver's Daily log according to Federal regulations.
  • Prepares shipping papers for freight received.
  • Interacts with customers when delivering or receiving freight or collecting payment for goods delivered.
  • Warehouse work using material handling equipment.
