About The Position

East Penn Manufacturing is looking for a highly motivated, customer focused Backup Route Driver to join our world class family of employees. Drive dedicated with East Penn and enjoy a consistent schedule and pay, onsite management and regular deliveries to dedicated customers. Guaranteed 40 hours per week, normally with a 5 day work week but schedule may vary based off need and scheduled runs. This position will pay $30.23 per hour. Pay rates are determined by role, level, and location. Plus a $2,500 Sign-On/Retention Bonus!

Requirements

Must be highly motivated and have good communication skills.
Candidate may be requested to work overtime.
Forklift experience required on both stand up and sit down forklifts.
Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Endorsements for Air Brakes and Hazmat (endorsements not required prior to employment but obtainment required during probationary period) Training provided.
Literate with good communication and math skills.

Responsibilities

Pulling (physical lifting) orders, loading and unloading of trucks, and loading batteries for customers.
Delivers and picks up freight from specified customer locations, such as warehouses, retail stores, dealerships, and small businesses.
Verifies freight with shipping papers.
Drives to specified locations, applying knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, state and local driving laws, and hazardous material regulations.
Uses skills in highway navigation as well as maneuvering a vehicle in various situations, such as narrow passageways, heavy traffic, and adverse weather conditions.
Inspects the vehicle for mechanical and safety defects before and after each trip, and submits a report indicating the vehicle condition.
Maintains a Driver's Daily log according to Federal regulations.
Prepares shipping papers for freight received.
Interacts with customers when delivering or receiving freight or collecting payment for goods delivered.
Warehouse work using material handling equipment.
