About The Position
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Backhoe Operator to join our construction team. The Backhoe Operator will be responsible for operating a backhoe to perform excavation, trenching, grading, material handling, and general construction support activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working around underground utilities, reading site plans, and maintaining equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Previous backhoe operating experience required.
- Ability to safely excavate around underground utilities.
- Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Nice To Haves
- Construction, utility, excavation, or public works experience preferred.
- Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, or site plans preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate a backhoe safely and efficiently on construction sites.
- Excavate trenches for utilities, drainage systems, and foundations.
- Load, move, and stockpile dirt, gravel, and other construction materials.
- Perform grading and site preparation work as directed.
- Work around underground utilities while maintaining safe digging practices.
- Assist with installing culverts, water lines, sewer lines, and drainage systems.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site requirements.
- Assist with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, laborers, and other equipment operators.
