About The Position

Anoka County is seeking professional and positive individuals to join the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office as a Background Investigator. The Sheriff's Office mission is to protect and serve the community in a manner that preserves the public trust. Requirements

Associate degree and at least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Previous experience in sworn law enforcement.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to interact with a variety of individuals and personalities.
Strong communication and writing skills.
No tattoos, scars or brands that qualify as "Unauthorized Tattoos" under the Sheriff's Office Policy 1044.3 are allowed under any circumstances by any member of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are prohibited.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field.

Responsibilities

Perform moderately complex investigative and administrative tasks to determine employment suitability for county employees and contractors.
Conduct criminal background checks, driving record checks, investigations, and examinations of applicants.
Conduct comprehensive face-to-face interviews and background investigations on applicants and contractors.
Keep management informed on the status of the background check and the candidate’s eligibility.
Serve as the point of contact for candidates to provide them status updates on the investigation, answer questions, address concerns and advise on the outcome.
Document all report information in a clear and concise manner.
