Peraton is seeking to fill a critical role for a full-time experienced background investigator near Valdosta, GA. Applicants must reside within 50 miles of the city center of Valdosta. The Investigator will be responsible for conducting in-person background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information. This involves scheduling and conducting face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, and friends. Investigators will also perform record searches at various agencies and institutions, including police departments, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities. All obtained information must be typed and reported clearly and concisely in a report on a government-issued computer system. The role requires working independently while also being a member of a team of Investigators and reporting to a Field Manager. Key aspects of the role include professional interaction, extensive writing, meeting attendance and punctuality expectations, attention to detail during fieldwork, and maintaining a high level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity. Professional attire is required. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, endure long periods of standing, and drive in adverse or night conditions.
