As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and support Java‑based backend applications for the firm’s critical Clearing and Settlement platforms. This highly technical, hands‑on role emphasizes backend engineering, system reliability, and performance in a large‑scale enterprise environment. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support, ensuring solutions meet rigorous standards for reliability, scalability, data integrity, security, and maintainability. You will collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and business partners to solve complex problems, modernize application components, and continuously improve software design, build, and operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 -6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • Hands‑on experience developing and supporting backend Java applications in an enterprise environment
  • Strong Java development experience using Core Java / Java EE and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC), including RESTful API development
  • Experience building or supporting microservices or layered architectures (e.g., SOA, MVC), including integration with existing or legacy systems
  • Solid experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and source control, using tools such as Git or Bitbucket, Maven, and Jenkins
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests using frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments (Scrum or Kanban) and using tools such as Jira
  • Basic understanding of application security concepts, including authentication and authorization (e.g., OAuth, JWT)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and business teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with messaging or integration technologies such as MQ or Kafka
  • Exposure to web technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and JSON
  • Experience working with SOAP services in addition to REST APIs
  • Familiarity with code quality, security, and scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify, Veracode)
  • Experience with UI or end‑to‑end testing frameworks such as Cucumber, Selenium, Jasmine, or Karma
  • Experience improving monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with backend engineering best practices
  • Ability to resolve technical disagreements constructively and contribute to a transparent, collaborative team culture

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications in alignment with functional and non‑functional requirements
  • Build high‑quality, maintainable Java code following established design and coding standards
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure application correctness, performance, and reliability
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of application components and services
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions, helping to drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement
  • Create and maintain clear system and technical documentation
  • Partner with subject matter experts, architects, and peers to review and refine technical designs and specifications
  • Apply appropriate software development methodologies (Agile, iterative, or waterfall) based on project needs
  • Support CI/CD practices, including automated builds, testing, and deployments
  • Provide production support as needed, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and issue resolution
  • Embed risk and control considerations into day‑to‑day development activities, escalating concerns as appropriate
