About The Position

BJAK is seeking backend engineers to build the core systems behind its AI Neobank app. This role is for engineers who can build reliable APIs, workflows, and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets, partners, and millions of users. BJAK, founded in 2019, started as a mobile-first insurance platform and has become the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia. They are now expanding to help people with spending, saving, investing, exchanging, and traveling, with a mission to help people get more from their money every day. BJAK has a diverse global team of over 20 nationalities, working remotely and from offices, who are passionate about building next-generation financial applications and redefining financial services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging.
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
• Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases.
• Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk.
• Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams.
• Strong English communication is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services.
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations.
• Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and other partners.
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance.
• Build systems that are practical, auditable and ready for regulated financial products.
