About The Position

We are seeking a Backend PHP/Hack programmer to independently manage a queue of privacy tasks, ensuring consistent daily progress. You will be responsible for creating new SQL queries and understanding/editing existing ones for data investigations. The role requires the ability to efficiently read, trace, debug, and understand a complex PHP backend codebase, as well as write new PHP backend code within an existing codebase. This is a team-need profile for a Backend PHP/Hack programmer, with a strong preference for an onsite role in Menlo Park, CA, but open to onsite in Bellevue or NYC.

Requirements

• 4 years of backend PHP/Hack programming.
• 4 years of SQL experience.
• Creating and modifying complicated SQL Queries.
• A solid ability to debug and track data through a call stack and understand how data is passed and if it is mutated from function to function.
• Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
• Strong ability to write, read and understand complex backend PHP code.
• Solid understanding of SQL (can read, understand, and write new complicated queries).
• You understand beyond SELECT, FROM, WHERE. You know what joins are and when you need to use them.
• Solid Debugging skills, understands static analysis and stack tracing.

Nice To Haves

• Certifications in PHP or SQL are nice to have, but not required.
• Any kind of debugging-heavy role or a role that required touching large, complicated systems.
• More 'backend' experience than 'frontend' experience.
• Experience understanding security and privacy violations in code is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a queue of privacy tasks, ensuring consistent daily progress in closing out tasks.
• Report to project tech leads if challenges arise or assistance is required.
• Create new SQL queries.
• Understand and edit existing SQL queries to perform data investigations.
• Read, trace, debug, and understand a complex PHP backend codebase.
• Write PHP backend code in an existing code base.
