About The Position

Veryable is hiring a Backend Engineer to build robust services and APIs that power existing and new features for its web and mobile applications. The engineer will own the full development lifecycle for selected roadmap features, from design and development through testing, release, and post-release support. The role also includes supporting internal users, gathering their feedback, and planning platform features.

The Backend Engineer will contribute to the team by mentoring junior engineers and conducting code reviews, while promoting maintainable, high-quality code through Test-Driven Development and comprehensive automated testing. The position participates in on-call incident response and postmortem analysis and remediation. This role is based in-office at Veryable’s headquarters in Downtown Dallas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, or other backend engineering frameworks.
• Proficiency in database design and SQL, with at least 2 years of industry experience using relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• At least 1 year of experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or CircleCI, and owning the release process.
• Attention to detail and the ability to break down complex problems and drive optimal solutions.
• Curiosity, a drive for continuous improvement, and a winning attitude.
• Ability to work in-office at Veryable’s headquarters in Downtown Dallas.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience implementing and managing message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS for asynchronous processing and inter-service communication.
• Understanding of front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems, including experience with profiling tools and load testing.
