About The Position

Aretum is seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Developer. As a Backend Developer you will be responsible for providing expert technical support, maintenance, and enhancement of a client application within an Agile, sprint-based development environment. The ideal candidate leverages strong backend development expertise in Python, AWS, RESTful APIs, databases, and scalable data solutions to ensure application performance, availability, and integration with TypeScript-based front-end components. Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Requirements

5 years of backend development experience
Bachelor’s Degree (3 years of additional experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree)
Experience using modern software to prototype and deploy backend web applications
Experience using web programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Python) and web development frameworks (e.g., Django, Rails)
Experience developing and consuming web-based, RESTful APIs
Experience with relational and non-relational database systems
Proficiency with scalable search technology
Competence in handling and scaling large data sets and their storage
Experience using version control systems
Experience working in a team environment that uses agile methodologies
Experience authoring developer-friendly documentation
Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
This position supports a federal government contract and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination, depending on the agency’s background investigation requirements.
