About The Position

The Back-Up Sanitation Process Lead provides first-level supervision, exercising independent judgment to achieve department goals in safety, quality, and efficiency. This role reports to the department Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring the entire plant is thoroughly cleaned on time and approved by USDA for production operations. This position is designed as a career path to higher supervisory roles within the company, and incumbents must be able to perform all positions within the department.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of sanitation operations.
  • Ability to read and write English (for record keeping purposes).
  • Working knowledge of supervisory management practices and principles.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in a manner that maintains harmony with co-workers.
  • Skill in making department decisions.
  • Completes Lockout/Tagout training and is aware of requirements for Lockout/Tagout safety as well as other company safety programs and policies.
  • Must be able to perform all positions within the department.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills in languages used within the department preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and work direction to team members supervised using independent judgment.
  • Trains and motivates team members to achieve maximum quality and productivity performance levels.
  • Directs and monitors the operations of the department and assigned processes.
  • Makes recommendations and works to plan and implement process improvements.
  • Promotes department and company goodwill through proactive team member communication.
  • Supports the new hire training program and is an active member.
  • Schedules people, materials, and equipment for effective and efficient utilization of departmental resources.
  • Utilizes independent judgment in determining work assignments and makes changes as necessary.
  • Ensures company policies and procedures are followed to maintain standards for safety, quality, and personnel satisfaction.
  • Enforces corrective action procedures, including issuing verbal counseling, written counseling, and written warnings.
  • Has the authority to suspend team members pending investigations or remove them from the workplace for unacceptable behaviors.
  • Monitors, maintains, and approves team member time and attendance using the Kronos Time Keeping System.
  • Prepares and issues performance appraisals after reviewing with the Supervisor.
  • Performs quality checks to monitor quality levels and makes necessary changes.
  • Knows, understands, and supports food safety requirements for the facility.
  • Takes immediate action to correct food safety deficiencies to prevent product contamination/adulteration.
  • Recognizes safety hazards, performs safety audits, and assists with accident investigations.
  • Maintains records of the department, including daily evaluation sheets and other reports as directed.
  • Works with others in a safe and professional manner.
  • Completes all daily checklists/tasks.
  • Monitors performance of department team members (timings, checklists, etc.).
  • Attends and participates in meetings on a regular basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Observes and enforces all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively and cooperatively with coworkers and leadership teams.
  • Participates in process improvement and problem-solving using continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies.
  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks.
  • Consistently practices and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.
