About The Position

Rheumatology Associates is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Back-Office Medical Assistant for their Plano office. This position will provide clinical support, working closely with the provider to deliver exceptional patient care. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, documenting patient information, assisting with clinical procedures, coordinating patient care, handling medication requests, processing prior authorizations, and supporting daily clinic operations.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma
  • Medical Assistant office experience
  • EMR experience required
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Competent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • E Clinical Works experience preferred
  • Travel may be required
  • 1 year clinical back office experience
  • Certified Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Documenting patient information

  • Supporting daily clinic operations
  • Answering phone calls and voicemails
  • Answering patient clinical questions
  • Reviewing medical history and counseling patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment
  • Evaluating a new complaint by phone and triaging to emergent, urgent, or routine appointment
  • Locating laboratory results not yet in the patient’s medical records
  • Explaining/documenting laboratory results
  • Calling in prescription refills
  • Explaining procedures and treatments
  • Initiating prior authorizations
  • Scheduling appointments and urgent visits as appropriate
  • Documenting all information into the computer system
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information
  • Adhering to policies/safety practices
  • Performing other duties as assigned
