About The Position

Oxford Clinic for Women, a practice partner of Together Women’s Health (TWH) has an immediate opportunity for a Full Time Back Office Assistant (BOA) to join their growing medical team. The BOA position is a great entry-level opportunity for someone interested in gaining knowledge and advancing within the healthcare field. The BOA is the supporting cast member to our team of Physicians and Medical Assistants. The BOA is an integral member of the team, that helps to ensure that our patients have the best experience possible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
  • A combination of work experience combined with graduation from a certified Medical Assistant program is acceptable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Must be able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced medical office

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience at an OBGYN office (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Complete chart preparation by reviewing last visit note, ensuring all outside orders (laboratory, imaging, etc.) are available and determine if phlebotomy will be required prior to Visit.
  • Prepares for, set up and assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures efficient patient flow by rooming patients in a timely manner and assisting the provider with staying timely on their schedule.
  • Obtains patient's health history, medications, and chief concern, and accurately enters the information into Electronic Medical Record system (EMR).
  • Reviews previous medical information and gathers any relevant updated health information from the patient to inform the provider.
  • Performs any preliminary physical tests and obtains and records vitals, weight, and measurements.
  • Sets up any additional diagnostic and/or treatment equipment, along with performing diagnostic tests.
  • Perform new patient intake prior to appointment.
  • Obtains appropriate written patient consent forms.
  • Performs testing and/or sample collection including blood draws, injections, cultures, biopsies, urinalyses, etc.; ensure all collected samples are properly labeled and transported in a timely fashion.
  • Assists provider during patient exams / minor surgical procedures and may include microscope set up, catheterization, change dressing, and staple or suture removal.
  • Administers and provides medication and immunizations as ordered.
  • Handles medication refill requests in accordance with practice procedure.
  • Dispenses appropriate educational materials to support health maintenance and/or to promote understanding of tests/procedures.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer services skills, and supports the model of patient and family centered care in all interactions
  • Chaperones providers during patient exams
  • Inventories and restocks supplies as needed
  • Sanitizes rooms and equipment, getting them prepared for the next patient
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of the practice
