About The Position

Marcel is a new continental restaurant in the iconic Breuer building on Madison Avenue. The restaurant is a partnership between the design brand Roman and Williams and Sotheby’s, whose future New York headquarters will be in the Breuer. Marcel is Roman and Williams’ second restaurant, following their celebrated downtown restaurant La Mercerie, and will also include La Mercerie Patisserie. Restaurant Associates is the industry’s leading provider of dining and event catering for some of the nation's most prestigious museums, performing arts centers and corporations. This position supervises hourly associates to ensure their practices comply with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Previous back-of-house and supervisory experience is required.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
The use of a medium weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer.
The use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steamtables.
The use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.

Responsibilities

Assists in ordering and keeping inventory of products.
Maintains product cost and labor cost according to budget.
Supervises and trains hourly staff to ensure policy and procedures are implemented.
Maintains consistent, efficient service during peak hours.
Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
