About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Back-End Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to lead their Model-Based Engineering Software (MBE) team in Berkeley, Missouri, supporting the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization. This role focuses on developing prototypes and new capabilities for web applications and services. Responsibilities include designing APIs, creating data processing and analytics pipelines, optimizing SQL queries, and building production-ready infrastructure. The engineer will help shape the architecture and infrastructure for prototypes and minimum-viable products, including researching and selecting technologies, building reliable and performant server applications, and ensuring scalability. The position can evolve into a full-stack role if desired. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
Active Secret Security Clearance
Ability to obtain Special Program Access
5+ years of experience in backend software development (Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, SQL Server)
5+ years of experience with Go, Python, Java or equivalent server language
5+ years of experience with database technologies using SQL or PL/SQL
Exposure to Agile process

Responsibilities

Leads architecture, development, documentation and maintenance of standardized, efficient, and innovative processes, tools, methodologies, and performance metrics to streamline the software engineering lifecycle and enable continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of safety critical software
Provide comprehensive technical oversight for different systems, guiding teams in designing and operating production-ready systems
Evaluate emerging technologies and seek innovative solutions to address existing and new challenges
Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning
Ability to take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision
Teamwork and coordination skills with ability to create clarity from ambiguity
Work with a team to shape the architecture of several web applications
Build new and expand on existing infrastructure for multi-application communications, logging, alerts, authentication, configuration, and more
Create test-suites for server applications to verify reliability, performance, and behavior
Work collaboratively to make decisions that affect the entire system
Interface with users and developers to define and implement solutions to meet requirements
Work independently and with a team to prototype features and applications
